| Born and raised in Hawaii, Brenda’s interest in art started in high school. She has been living in Mexico for the past 29 years. Mainly a self taught artist, she has taken some workshops in Mexico and the U.S.A. Brenda works with oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, pastels and also has done quite a number of etchings. Her main joy is working with oil paints. Although, in any medium, it’s the actual work, play and experimentation with colors that she finds a deep sense of fulfillment and joy. It never ceases to amaze her, what can be accomplished with a paint tube, paint brush, and a support. With a little help of the imagination, disposition and sometimes even courage, many wonderful things and happenings can occur. Her subjects vary from nature to still-life. Her choice of subject usually projects a feeling of peace and harmony or joy. In her art, Brenda’s quiet personality shows through. Her works are in many private collections and a museum.“ Brenda Ogata was born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. But as her surname indicates, she is a Japanese descendant, a fact that reflects in the quality of her works, emanating a soft spirituality typical of the Orient, spirituality that, in contrast to the occidental concept of body and soul being separate and even discordant, works with elements of this world, capturing the soft blends of colors that nature radiates when contemplated under a poetic perspective.
