Ocumicho pottery
The Ocumicho pottery is renowned for its
mischievous designs, inspired by colorful
demons. These pieces are mainly the work of
women, many of whom are relatives, and who
both compete and cooperate in the sale of their
handcrafts.
The erotic chickens are representative of
Ocumicho pottery. There are not two alike. The
external piece, or lid, when removed, it reveals
the hidden part. This piece, usually depicts a
couple entwined in a intimate embrace, with
explicit positions. The artisans themselves will
look away and giggle when you appreciate the
details of their work.
